The Infusion Treatment Area (ITA) and the BMT Inpatient Unit (E-1) are the primary places tht patients undergoing transplantation will receive care. Both provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the transplant continuum including chemotherapy administration, infusion of blood or marrow cells, apheresis, and antibiotic and blood productadministration. In addition, the staff provide supportive care as well as patientand family education. If you proceed with transplantation your treatment plan will determine if you receive the majority of your care in the ITA or on E1.
