Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program
 Since the Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program’s inception in 1987 over 3100 adult patients have received transplants for a variety of malignant and non-malignant diseases including lymphoma, myeloma, leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome and selected solid tumors. We currently provide transplants to over 200 patients each year.
Our nationally recognized program combines superior patient care with cutting-edge medicine. We are among a select number of BMT programs in the country currently funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to conduct clinical research designed to improve patient outcomes. The program is fully accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and is a member of the BMT Clinical Trials Network of the United States. The Stanford Cellular Therapeutics and Transplantation Laboratory is operated by the BMT Program and processes blood and marrow products for transplantation.
Patients receiving care with the BMT Program have access to the full complement of specialist physicians within the medical center, including many who are nationally recognized. Although most of our patients are from California others travel from throughout the United States and some from other countries to seek care from the Stanford BMT Program.

Description of Program
The multidisciplinary team approach that we use ensures the highest quality patient care. Outstanding nursing care provided by experienced registered nurses, nurse coordinators/case managers, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, research nurses, and nursing assistants is an integral part of our program. Physician assistants, pharmacists, dieticians, financial coordinators, social workers, physical therapists, laboratory technologists, chaplains and an experienced administrative and clerical staff complete the team. The BMT team collaborates with leading hematologists, medical and radiation oncologists, infectious disease specialists, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, cardiologists, dermatologists, psychiatrists, neurologists and other specialists on the medical staff at Stanford.
